IRB Driver

R1600,00

The IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) Driver course is open to all members in good standing with the club who are 18 years or older and who hold a Surf Lifeguard Award with a valid Retest. Course dates will be advertised during the year and are only open at these times with a closing date (please liaise with the Head Instructor). Courses are over 3 to 4 days with a minimum of 20 hours of instruction.

Course registration and fee payment is required before the course start date. The course is only available to members of the Clifton Surf Lifesaving Club who are in good standing with the club.

The IRB Driver course is designed to create competent IRB drivers. The qualification has theoretical and practical components such driving in the surf, patient rescues, and maritime regulations to prepare Surf Lifeguards for IRB use. It is compulsory for members to have the Surf Lifeguard Award and an IRB Crewman Award to apply for this course. This qualification gives Surf Lifeguards the knowledge and skill required to respond in rescue situations utilising an IRB.
